Sgt. Briggs joined the China Grove Police Department from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office in 2004. Sgt. Briggs is from a military family and is a veteran of the U.S. Army. He is a certified radar operator and chemical analyst. He enjoys hunting and spending time with his family. He currently resides in Cleveland with his wife and son.

Sgt. Bass joined the China Grove Police Department in 2005 and is patrol supervisor for B-Squad. Sgt. Bass is a licensed pilot and enjoys flying in his off-time. He is originally from Pennslyvania and currently resides in Salisbury with his wife and four children.

Detective Sgt. D.P. Walther - Badge# 2505

Sgt. Walther joined the China Grove Police Department in 2003. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Sgt. Walther enjoys spending time on the lake with his family. Originally from Murray, KY, Sgt. Walther currently resides in Salisbury with his wife and two children.

Officer J. Washam - Badge# 2507

Before joining the China Grove Police Department in 2006 Officer Washam served the community as a firefighter with the Bostian Heights Fire Department and as a Rowan County Communications telecommunicator. Officer Washam is a certified EMT and Haz-Mat incident responder. In his spare time he enjoys hunting and fishing with his son. Officer Washam is a life-long resident of China Grove.

Officer N. O'Brien - Badge# 2508

Officer O'Brien recently joined the China Grove Police Department. He began his career with the Rowan County Sheriff's Office. He enjoys spending time with his wife and new baby girl.

Officer N. M. Stillwell - Badge# 2509

Officer Stillwell is currently assigned as the School Resource Officer at Jessie C. Carson High School. She began her career with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office in 1995.. She joined the East Spencer Police Department in 1998 and moved to the Spencer Police Department the following year where she still maintains a reserve status. Officer Stillwell joined the China Grove Police Department in 2005. Officer Stillwell enjoys reading and spending time with her family. Officer Stillwell is married, has 4 children and is a resident of China Grove.

Officer J. K. Alley - Badge# 2511

Officer Alley is currently assigned as the School Resource Officer at China Grove Middle School. Officer Alley served with the East Spencer Police Department and the Cooleemee Police Department before returning to his China Grove roots and joining our department in 2005. Officer Alley enjoys spending time with his family, riding motorcycles and working out in his off time. Officer Alley is married, has 2 children, and resides in Salisbury.

Officer R.M. Helms - Badge# 2514

Reese M. Helms joined the China Grove Police Department in January 2007. Helms completed Basic Law Enforcement Training in May of 2006 and was most recently employed as a security officer and with a service company associated with Aldi Stores. Helms also served as a Specialist with the North Carolina National Guard for five years. Helms resides in the China Grove area, is an automotive enthusiast and enjoys playing paintball.

Officer S. Wood - Badge# 2515

Officer Wood recently joined the Department in November 2007. He previously worked for the Rowan County Sheriff's Department in the Detention Center. Wood graduated from Basic Law Enforcement Training at RCCC in May 2007. He worked for a number of years in retail management with Food Lion before starting his law enforcement career. Wood enjoys spending his personal time with his son and they live in western Rowan County.

Detective R.L.Hosey - Badge# 2526

Detective Hosey joined the China Grove Police Department in 2004. He is a certified Computer / Network Forensics Examiner and enjoys working with new technologies. Originally from Camden-On-Gauley, WV, Officer Hosey resides in China Grove with his wife.
